She’s Right Behind You

The Final Girls were invited to curate a series of screenings for the East End Film Festival, to take place in the iconic Masonic Temple Cinema.

We curated and presented She’s Right Behind You, exploring the figure of the vengeful female ghost, a staple in folklore, horror fiction and cinema. Disembodied and freed from the patriarchal grasp and domination of the female body, they are empowered to avenge those who wronged them when they were alive.

Films included: The Uninvited (Lewis Allen, 1944), The Others (Alejandro Amenábar, 2001), Kuroneko (Kaneto Shindo, 1968) and Whispering Corridors (Park Ki-hyung, 1998).

The season ran in April 2018 at the Masonic Temple Cinema.
